The Democratic Republic of Congo has been going through war for several years. The war started in the eastern side of Congo in the provinces of Sud Kivu, Nord Kivu, Province Orientale and Maniema. The war was devastating for the population especially for women.

Mwangaza International is an international non-profit that seeks to help the hurting in the Democratic Republic of Congo in various ways. In the DR of Congo, there has been much war, death, ethnic cleansing, and abuse there over the last 2 decades, and the DRC is one of the poorest countries in the world.

Outrage is mounting around the world against United Nations “peace-keeping” soldiers as sex-crime allegations, ranging from charges of rape and exploitation in Haiti to wide-spread sexual abuse of children in the Ivory Coast, have exploded into the headlines this week.

DAKAR — Researchers announced on Thursday the development of a new test to diagnose Trypanosomiasis, an often deadly parasitic disease commonly known as sleeping sickness.

Congolese authorities are investigating a United Nations driver accused of trying to illegally export minerals. The U.N. mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo says it is cooperating with authorities and launching its own internal investigation.

Kinshasa — More than 3,000 cases of measles have been recorded in the past three months in two districts of Maniema Province, in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
