About a year ago we had the idea of doing an art auction. We did not really know what to expect but everything ended up working out really well. A gentle rain fell over Joplin all day, a sign of God’s blessing in what we were about to start. It was one of our first challenges. The end of the night was a victory; 210 people came, $1200 was raised and many artists, photographers and designers made the event so special!
This year we are doing this again! Same place: Momentum 8 studio. Many young artists are donating. I am excited for what is coming September 18th. This year all proceeds from our auctions are going to our Christmas Project.
Each year, we make Christmas special for the people of DR Congo. We serve AIDS orphans, street children, child soldiers, child prostitutes and rape victims by giving them food, clothes, shoes, and toiletries. We also pay hospital bills for those who cannot pay. In the DR Congo, hospitals hold people captive who do not have money to pay their hospital bills. Some are kept for 2 or more months for as little as 20 dollars.
Several artists have decided to make this a special night again. This is a special invitation to all those who are in the Joplin area, and even those who want to come all the way here to support our work. We need all the help we can get for that. So dress up like last year, we have the velvet rope back; possibly a red carpet, it is going to be fun. Above all else, please come to make difference in the lives of the people in the Democratic Republic of Congo
